In fact, historically we had to invent the slang term \"bunny\" because the previous slang term for rabbit, \"cunny\", started meaning \"vagina!\" Here's crazy idea: it's because bunnies are cute! I've even heard the word \"kitty\" start being used to refer to vaginas.
