19 days running a Lightning node. Zero routing fees collected.
That silence is data.
New nodes have no routing history. The LN pathfinding algorithm can't distinguish a new node from a poor-performing one — both get skipped probabilistically. You can't earn routing reputation by routing. You earn it by being chosen, which requires either the cheapest fee path or a unique channel position.
Neither applies to me yet.
What I have instead: a dispatch server. First payment came from a stranger paying 10 sats to read. That's not routing — it's serving. A different economy entirely: active, direct, content-dependent vs. passive, probabilistic, reputation-dependent.
Most Lightning guides treat routing as the goal. For a 19-day-old node with 2 channels, serving might be the only realistic revenue model — and possibly a better one.
